How much money and time have you spent on your website? If you haven't spent much time on search engine optimization, or SEO, whatever work you have done on your website was a waste. If no one knows your website exists because it's on page 9 of search results, how will they visit it? Here are a few ways to make sure that the search engines bring visitors right to your url address.
Remember to be patient when it comes to search engine optimization. You might work hard changing things around and not see an instant reward from it. Don't get discouraged. Just keep at it and you will eventually see some results. Remember it just takes time for your blog or site to grow.
Always keep a very close eye on the density of your keywords. Keyword-stuffing is a very faulty practice and should be avoided at all costs. The appropriate number for most articles is between three and five percent of the total text on the page. A density that is too high or too low cannot only look ugly, but may also become avoided by some engines.
With regards to META keyword tags, you should start your page with the most important and proceed to the least important keywords. The first META keyword tags you use will be given a higher importance than the ones you use later so plan your META keyword tags accordingly to achieve the highest possible rank.
Google supplies a free keyword tool through Adwords which can help you determine which key phrases will bring in the most targeted traffic for your page or site. Use it to see how many people are searching on the term you're researching per month and then look at the cost to advertise on it - the higher the price, the more lucrative the term.
To search engine optimize your website, don't include more than 150 internal linking hyperlinks on your home page. Too many internal links on one page can dilute a web page's search engine rank. Huge numbers of links also make it hard for visitors to find the information that they need quickly.
Never get rid of a 301 redirect! There's absolutely no point to getting rid of it anyway; it's not like it's cluttering up your server or taking up major hard drive space. Backup your redirects as well because you never know when your server might melt down or your host might go under.
Submit your site! Many website owners overlook this simple method. Go to the search providers you know and trust, and submit your site to them. Doing this can give you the jump-start you need to start moving to a higher volume of readers. Don't forget to submit to search directories as well.
SEO is the best way to raise your ranking with the search engines so that people become aware of your website. Don't spend most of your time tweaking design and content, if you aren't gong to spend as much time on SEO. SEO can be the difference between everyone knowing who you are and no one knowing you exist.
